Who Invented Electricity?

Thomas Edison is considered the father of modern electricity. In the late 1840s, he discovered that amber contained a charge that can produce light.

The question of who invented electricity can be answered in many ways, but there is no one person who is credited with the discovery. The concept of electricity is a combination of several physical phenomena, all of which relate to magnetism. The first explanation of the phenomena is Maxwell's equations, which describe electricity and magnetism. The second idea is that it is associated with matter that has an electric charge. As such, it can be considered the father of modern technology.

Who really discovered electricity? 

While Westerners knew about the effects of electrical forces, they didn't fully understand the process. Early researchers had only known that amber became charged when it came into contact with water, but they still didn't make significant progress until about 16th Century, when William Gilbert coined the term "electrica." In 1600 he published a book explaining how electricity was produced. His book, "De magnete, Magneticisque corporibus, et de Magno Magnete Tellure" was published and became the most influential textbook on the subject.

How was electricity first created?

In 1804 the voltaic pile battery was first developed by Alessandro Volta, a physician in Rome. He had a conflict with Galvani, who had thought that muscles contained electrical signals. In the late 1800s, Volta was able to prove that the electric current was generated by a moist pasteboard between two copper and zinc sheets. Eventually, this technology led to the invention of the first portable electric cable.

After the development of the electric motor, Michael Faraday, a British scientist, discovered the principle of electro-magnetic rotation. He discovered that when a magnet was moved inside a coil of copper wire, a tiny electric current flows through the wire. Of course, by today's standards, Faraday's electric dynamo or electric generator was crude, and provided only a small electric current be he discovered the first method of generating electricity by means of motion in a magnetic field.

Another two major inventors in the fireld of electricity are Sir Humphry Davy and Hans Christian Oersted. The latter was the first to discover the concept of electrolysis. The first electric bulb was created in 1879 by Thomas Edisson. Among the first applications of electricity is the telegraph. Nikola Tesla, a German-born inventor, was the first to use electricity to transmit speech. A few months later, he published his findings in the scientific journals. A few of his research papers on electrical circuits involved the use of alternating current. He also solved problems associated with magnetic resistance. This led to the creation of the DC generator. The next major invention was the transistor. This device is essential to countless modern devices. The simplest way to use the electric current is to plug it into an electric outlet.
